Default This game is not about loot?

Seriously, judging from the threads in this forum, it seems loot is all it's about.

Or is it just that Guildwars runs so smooth there nothing else to discuss than how to farm, where to farm, how every single update affects farming, whether farming should be nerfed, if farming will be nerfed, if farming HAS been nerfed, if ANet is teh suck for nerfing farming, which items are rarest, the price of items, the look of items, which items are the most uber, how not to get scammed when running to get loot, if one should run to get loot, and "OMG how noob are YOU that you have THAT item?!"

Did GW turn in to an economy simulator where he who has the most gold, the rarest greens, and the most ecto in storage, wins?

What the heck happened?

I can only speak for myselft but....

Ive played the game, ive done all the missions (several times, and still help guildees out alot), now im done with them i farm for items. I dont like PVP so its all thats left for me to do.

(not complaining i enjoy 5 man green farming/fow teams, solo farming and exploration ect).

And this will remain so untill i get bored of it (hahaha as if), or they introduce some new content to play.

I can only guess that farming is all some people talk about, as thats all that they do now.

After you unlock all the items & skills, do all the quests and explore all the areas, what else is there to do?

This quote says it best:

For some of us, that's how we enjoy the game now. I have a lot of in-game currency (relative to most), but it's just a by-product of mindless killing to pass time.

did you unlock all skills for all your pve chars changing second profession , or with faction ?

this game is really about skills , and faction is the short cut impov ...
i almost went to the dark side and unlocked some skills with faction , but then in pve , not being able to use them was anoying so i went back to skill caping and changing second profession , untill i have it all ... i think when im done with it , second chapter will be out , cose i dont have that much time to play.

Capping skills purely for the sake of it though IS farming......

Mixture of both... I ran 5 chars to Ring of Fire, 3 beat Hell's Precipice. 1 stuck on Titan Source, 1 stuck on DNKP, 1 haven't bothered to do Titan quests with yet. They're the ones I save for doing stuff in PvE. Other 2 were deleted. Since I haven't been able to find uses for all the skills in PvE, there's a select few that's only accessed by my PvP chars. About all that's left for me to do now is to horde a giant pile of money to spend on nifty stuff when Ch. 2 comes out

After playing through the game with all its missions and quests a number of times with different characters, there certainly is no reason to discuss details about the PVE part of the game itself. Any new posts concerning the difficulties or needed strategies to beat a mission like Thunderkeep will just be met with "do a search, its been posted before".

So, uh, what else is there to talk about? For most people at this stage in this part of the forum, the only thing keeping them playing GW is the farming.

But there is another interesting topic, and there are a few threads about it, and that is the human factor of GW. Here I am talking about the "biggest jerk" thread and the related threads. For me, the human interaction side is the most rewarding, both the good and sometimes the bad experiences.

The lack of PvE content is a valid point, but many threads have made A-Net aware over the last few months, and I think it may be corrected in the next chapter. But thats not the case with these pro farmers because many of these people havent unlocked much of anything, have very few skills and are farming their butt off,

The two things I haven't done is complete all the UW quests in one run and the Final Assualt mission in SF. Not for lack of trying, but no one is interested. All they want to do is farm smites in UW and Greens in SF.
A questor can't get an legitimate party for these two areas.

Its crazy to map into these zones and hundreds of people are in ToA and War Camp only to farm, havent completed the quests and could care less about them. Many don't even complete the storyline and are only there to farm they are not just killing time between chapters. They brought the game to farm, they get ran to a farming location and camp there for the duration. They don't care about quests or skills or XP only items and loot. I think the OP is asking where did these people come from (some other loot driven game?)and what is driving this mentality?

I got all skills and elites for my ranger primary and every secondary completed for him. He UAS'd at 4.360,000 XP. also unlocked all items and runes and faction capped at 121,500. I only need to clear UW and do FA to retire him from PvE till chapter 2, but because of the state of the game I'm at an impass cause people only want to farm instead of quest. Indeed what is going on with GW?

At the risk of sounding like too much of a GW fan, I enjoy the diversity of the game. So - sure - acquiring hard-to-get items is part of the enjoyment for me. And since my FOW armor and nice axe can easily be duplicated - as far as effectiveness - with something a lot cheaper, it seems harmless. It gives me something to do after finishing the game with several characters.

That's my big surprise. I'm still playing after 7 months and enjoying it. I keep waiting for the clock to run out.

But lately I've been spending more time with PvP and enjoying that too. So, much to my wife's regret, I'm still spending a lot of time in the game.

And each new item (hey I need one of those Icy Dragon Swords and will head to Mineral Springs when I get home today) adds to the fun.

Depends on how you define "win". Having highest rank emote? Having most amount of gold/ectos/rarest items? Or having highest guild ranking? Well, to me if you're having fun playing this game, then you are a winner. So if having more rare items make more people enjoy this game, then why not?

People misunderstand exactly what kind of game Guild Wars is.

It is not an MMO.

As such, it is not to be treated like an MMO. You are not supposed to play it sixteen hours a day for five months straight. GW is not World of Warcraft.

The game is more suited a conservative playing style. Don't play it constantly. Play it every now and then, pick it up when you feel like it. If you play it all the time, you will get sick of it. It's how it is.

I'm content to set the game aside and patiently wait for Chapter 2 (which I will certainly be buying the day it is released) and play other games in the meantime. Of course, when the mood strikes me, I log on and do whatever I feel like doing. I still find enjoyment with certain aspects of PVE.

I think the real item hunters (those who actually want to use items rather than skills to improve their chr) all left after the summer. What you see now, well I don't know why they are so exited about some low level stuff. Take this perfect dragon sword thread. Is'nt that hillarious? You will hardly notice any difference with 15% extra dmg when hexed, or whatever. Perhaps if the dmg was doubled it would sort some noticable effect. I guess its more about finding the best possible, rather than the usage. And there's nothing else to do...

The developers need to spend some time developing the game INSTEAD of nerfing it to bits and bits:

When we get disconnected and reconnect (especially when in Thunderhead), you start all over again and lose your group. That is a waste of time and needs to be looked at before ANY nerfs or updates go into effect.

We still can't link items in trade channel.

New weapons and quests. Green items tied people over for a month.

The unrealistic nature of the game. Yea the graphics are lovely. But in this huge world we have to explore, we don't see anything except for enemies and the people we are grouped with. That whole 'instanced world system' needs to go.

Expand storage. I have two accounts and all 6 toons are nearly full.

1 on 1 dueling. You can aruge the unbalances but there is always a way on EACH class to dispel or stop a particular build. 1 on 1 is useful for those nubs whom won't shut up. So you simply go over and ask for a duel and see if they can walk the walk.
